Wrinkles in Time

I don't have an outfit to share with you today but I do have a topic for discussion.


My favorite part of my appearance is these crazy laugh lines I've grown around my eyes. I'm only 26 but I'm thrilled about some happy wrinkles. My boyfriend commented on them the other day, much to my delight.

A few weeks ago, I went to Freddie Mercury's birthday party with the most awesome ladies EVER.



These photos were taken by the most excellent Erica Esham.


My neon polyester flying squirrel disco dress got a lot of comments and they were even mostly positive! It used to be a floor-length gown but I shortened it within an inch of it's life... Some would say it is almost too short now.


This was taken right after I altered it ... I don't think I could ever wear it without leggings underneath... Too dangerous.

To Have and Have Not

I went through a phase several years ago of trolling thrift stores for beautiful pillowcases, buying them for $0.60, and then making them into skirts while watching a movie. It is seriously the easiest and most rewarding sewing project ever especially if you are, like me, sewing machine impaired. I do all my stitching by hand.


So I used to have a drawer full of these skirts but have pared my collection down to just two. This is one that made the cut. If you're interested, I can write out the steps I took making these little linen project. There are approximately 928 million pillowcase skirt tutorials on the web, too.

I saw Sleuth with my family at Cincinnati's Playhouse in the Park this day. It was a dark, mysterious plot so I tried to dress accordingly.

The Blog is Always Greener...

This green shirt is far more awesome than this photo - and my bizarre posing - can do justice. It's from Old Navy and has a lovely cut and it was cheap and soft and so ... green.

Once a strict adherent to a t-shirt only wardrobe, I find I seldom don the quintessential American basic anymore. In fact, I had so many old mouldering (not really) t-shirts holed up in drawers that I decided to make a t-shirt quilt out of them. You just can't toss our your formative years' worth of wearables, you know.

Anyway, that's what makes this t-shirt so special. I wear it even though I hardly wear t-shirts.


I realize I've worn this necklace several days in a row. Hush.




My poor camera fell off a fence post. A lady with two small children in tow offered to snap a photo for me and I was too embarrassed to let her. I love this blog but sometimes taking pictures of myself feels so freaking silly.

I went to the movies with my beau who convinced me to see 9. I told him that if the flick was not up to my standards, he would have to make out with me, high school style, in the theater. Unfortunately, it's actually a pretty good movie.

I visited my great grandma on Saturday. She's 95 and still tuff as hell... No glasses, no need for false teeth, no walker or cane, and a sharp, witty sense of humor. I so hope I grow up to be her.




In a fit of fairytale-inspired insanity, I offered to take Mico to see grandma in a basket. She was not impressed with the idea.
