Big Days

I have some photos from my 48 Film Project adventure!

48 Hour Columbus 4
I played a reporter. Nothing says "reliability" like a high-waisted skirt.

top - thrift
skirt - vintage
shoes - Man. I can't remember. I got them at the Gap Outlet in Hebron, KY.

48 Hour Columbus 3
My plant Porthos got to play a starring role. If you'll notice, my outfit is the exact same one I wore to a recent job interview .

48 Hour Columbus 1
More high-waisted skirt. More authority.

top - Express (It was a gift!)
skirt - thrift/vintage
tights - Kohl's
shoes - Miu Miu from a Goodwill in Cincinnati

Well, my boyfriend popped the big question ...

becky002

He asked me to make an appearance in a commercial he is helping to produce. What? What question did you think?

Har har.

Anyway, he asked me to find a "white, long, flowing" gown to wear in a short video. I found this little vintage beauty at the Village Thrift Store in Newport, KY for $12. It originally had this nasty lace collar and strange, gauzy wing-like sleeves but after a half hour attack with a stitch ripper, it turned out rather nice.

In other news, I have a confession. While I have been snapping copious numbers of pictures with a fancy new birthday present digital camera, I left the USB cord that lets it speak to my computer in Columbus this week. Arg. I'll upload more photos soon, I hope.

Wow that dress is gorgeous!! I would pay good money for that exact dress in a boutique.... if I were to ever get married anyway. :)

I've been reading and enjoying your blog for some time now. I enjoy your sartorial variety and posts. Cheers!

That gown (12 bucks? what a steal!) is really very lovely - just enough detail, especially along the collar, to add a touch of flair without overwhelming the overall simple elegance. Good call on the wing-like sleeves. Sounds very costumy.

That village thrift can be totally overwhelming sometimes, and it's always so packed! I'm glad you found something great like that there though!

Thanks for your awesome compliments!

Kendra - How much we talking? heheh, I kid.

Frederik - Welcome! I really wish I would have taken a "before" picture of the dress ... It was the height of early 80s absurdity.

daer0n - Many thanks! I think they're going for a dreamy look in the video so I'm happy to hear that that is what it evokes.

Leproust - heheh... I'm surprised than none of my buddies haven't questioned my intentions with that dress. I was hoping to trick everyone! Muahahah!

Ms. Thrifty - Yay!

Paige - I actually rather like the combative nature of shopping at the Village ... Outta my way! I'm buyin' cowboy boots!

dripdrop - I KNOW. They were pretty beat up but they only cost something like $10. They make me so happy.
